In A Nutshell
I am a 67-year-old copywriter/proofreader at an ad agency who likes movies and books and people who are aware of what goes on around them and inside themselves. I believe we all live in a web of connections with people in our families, communities, country and world, with our fellow creatures and the natural environment that supports us all, and ultimately with spiritual forces greater than our own capacity to understand. I believe these connections exist whether we realize it or not, and that the more aware we are of them and the more we work to nurture them, the more likely we are to be happy and at peace. And when I'm not floating off into this kind of jabber, I like slobbering dogs and stupid wacko fun.
The One I Am Looking For
I am looking for someone who pays attention to who she is inside, how she's feeling, what's going on in the world and in her family and is perceptive about the people she meets, who has come to some understanding of herself and some degree of peace with who she is, who likes herself and is open to connections with other people, who is kind and fair and caring and funny. I'm looking for someone with original and creative patterns of thought and who is intrigued by things out of the ordinary, not frightened by them. If you're goofy, that's good, if you're quiet and thoughtful, that's good, if you're both at different times that's great, if you're both simultaneously that's a little scary.
I'd Just Like to Add
I was on the debate team in high school, very good at it but hated doing it. Not a natural public speaker, but I was interested in current events and the other debater-types were funny and interesting. I was in the Stanford Band, marched in the Rose Parade in 1971, never apprehended by the authorities. Lived cool Blue in nothing but Red states my entire life, with a brief stint in New York City during its ominous moldy Taxi Driver years. Had a wonderful time raising two great kids. When I have happy dreams it's about hanging around with them in their youthdom. Loved acquiring a bonus stepkid late in life. Also learned later in life to love furs, 2 dogs and 3 cats at the moment. Always felt different from people around me, learned later more about the shared experience. I ain't all that different after all. Have become grateful for the extra years of living--I've needed the extra time to learn more stuff and enjoy myself.
