In A Nutshell
The whole thing with relationships is being ready for one and then meeting the right person. I am an independent person, have been self employed nearly continuously since college until I retired ten years ago. Enjoy boating, fishing, films, reading, thoughtful art, traveling, hiking, some cooking (I enjoy cooking for guests), and conversation. I taught skiing many years ago and found I still love downhill. Have many interests actually when I stop to consider it. It would be nice to share time with a woman with some similar interests or include some of hers. Sometimes it is easier to define what you are not interested in such as organized religion, watching sports, golf, dancing (although I would give it a shot with a patient teacher), bad art (too many sculptures are just homes for pigeons), some country western music, films with extended chase scenes, over indulgence in drugs, road traffic, and unhealthy food.
The One I Am Looking For
Kindness, thoughtful consideration as to how people arrive at the place they are in life before making a judgement, an interest in how we use language to make our way through life, an appreciation of what we take for granted in being sentient beings and awareness that this too is spiritual. Also a minimum of crazy drama.
I have grown really tired of hearing myself drone on about the past. I am very interested in meeting someone brave enough to be honestly vulnerable who values being authentic. It would be my privledge to share with such a person to help reinforce these practices in both our lives. It is so easy to wander from this path it would be great to find another who aspires to tell their real heartfelt story as much as they were able to do so. The rest of this is really hardly worth reading....
Initially I would like to find a woman who enjoys- my company, cooking together, sharing favorite films, hikes, fine wines. .. and sharing in her interests. Eventually, someone who is interested in boating in the San Juan Islands or SE Alaska and maybe going skiing or biking.
I'd Just Like to Add
I was lucky enough to go through college at a time when you could study what the world was about without fear of finding a job after graduation (literature, philosophy, music, history, art) rather than how to accumulate skills to earn a living.
I was lucky enough to eventually forge a job, after years of work eliminating the parts of business I didn't want to do, where time seemed to disappear while I was working.
I was lucky enough to have the love of a wonderful woman who made me think I was better than I am through that love.
I am finally lucky enough to know I would rather be lucky than smart as luck has brought me so much. I hope to be lucky in love again someday.
